These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the website operated by London Carpenters And Joiners (“we”, “us”, “our”) at londoncarpentersandjoiners.co.uk and, where applicable, the supply of our carpentry, joinery, and related services to customers in the United Kingdom.
By using our website or instructing us to provide services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or engage our services.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and, where applicable, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
1. About these terms
- Business name: London Carpenters And Joiners
- Address: London, Greater London, United Kingdom
“You” means the website visitor or the customer (including a homeowner, tenant with authority, landlord, or business client) engaging our services. If you instruct us on behalf of someone else, you confirm you have authority to do so.
A separate written quotation, order confirmation, or contract for works may apply to a specific project. If there is a conflict between a signed project contract and these website Terms, the project contract prevails for that project. These website Terms still apply to your use of the website.
2. Using our website
We provide the website for information about our carpentry and joinery services, resources and guides, contact and enquiry facilities, and related tools. Content is for general information only and does not constitute a formal offer, professional structural advice, or a guarantee that any particular design or method is suitable for your property without survey.
We aim to keep information accurate and up to date but do not warrant that the website is complete, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of the website without notice.
3. Our services
We provide carpentry and joinery services which may include (depending on the agreed scope): fitted furniture, wardrobes, kitchens-related joinery, doors, skirting, flooring preparation or installation where offered, custom joinery, repairs, and related finishing works. Exact scope is defined in your quotation or contract.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, we are not responsible for: structural engineering design; party-wall matters; planning or building-control applications; electrical, gas, or plumbing works carried out by others; asbestos surveys; or making good areas outside the agreed work zone.
4. Quotes, estimates and surveys
- Online calculators, ballpark figures, and guide prices are indicative only and are not binding quotations.
- Written quotations are based on the information you provide and, where applicable, measurements and observations from a site survey.
- Quotations are typically valid for the period stated on the quote (or 30 days if none is stated), unless withdrawn earlier.
- If site conditions, access, latent defects, or your requirements differ from those assumed, we may revise the price and programme.
- Photographs, drawings, and samples shown on the website or in proposals are illustrative; finished work may vary within reasonable trade tolerances due to timber movement, grain, dye lots, and site conditions.
5. Contracts and variations
A contract for works is formed when we accept your instruction in writing (including email) or when you accept our quotation in the manner we specify and any required deposit is received, whichever we confirm.
Changes to scope, materials, design, or programme (“variations”) should be agreed in writing where practical. We may decline variations that are unsafe, unlawful, or impractical. Variations may affect price and timescales. Work carried out on your verbal instruction may be chargeable at our reasonable rates.
6. Price and payment
- Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). VAT will be charged where applicable and identified on invoices.
- Deposits or staged payments may be required before materials are ordered or works commence. Deposit amounts and milestones will be set out in your quotation or contract.
- Invoices are payable by the due date stated. We may charge reasonable interest and recovery costs on overdue sums as permitted by law.
- Until paid for in full, we reserve title to materials and goods we have supplied that remain identifiable, to the extent permitted by law.
- You are responsible for bank charges on your side and for providing accurate payment references.
7. Your obligations
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information about the property, access, and the works required
- Obtain any consents, permissions, or landlord approvals needed for the works (unless we have expressly agreed to obtain them)
- Ensure safe, reasonable access to the work area, parking/unloading where possible, power, and water as agreed
- Clear personal belongings from the work area and protect items you choose to leave nearby
- Tell us about known hazards (including asbestos risk), structural concerns, or shared/party structures
- Make decisions and approve designs within agreed timeframes so the programme can proceed
- Ensure someone aged 18+ is available for key decisions, handover, and access where required
Delays, abortive visits, or extra work caused by breach of these obligations may be chargeable and may extend the programme.
8. Timescales and delays
Start dates and completion estimates are given in good faith but are not guaranteed unless we expressly agree a fixed completion date in writing. Timings may change due to material lead times, weather (where relevant), variations, access issues, other trades, or events beyond our reasonable control.
We will keep you informed of material delays and revised expectations where practical.
9. Materials, waste and ownership
- Unless otherwise agreed, we select materials of suitable quality for the specified use. If you supply materials, you are responsible for their suitability, quantity, and defects.
- Natural materials (timber, veneers, stone, etc.) vary in colour, grain, and finish; such variation is not a defect.
- We will remove waste arising from our works as agreed in the quotation. Skip permits and parking suspensions, if needed, are your responsibility unless included.
- Risk in goods passes on delivery to site or installation, as applicable; title passes on full payment as set out above.
10. Workmanship and defects
We will carry out works with reasonable care and skill. If you believe there is a defect in our workmanship, please notify us promptly in writing with reasonable detail and access to inspect. Where we are responsible, we will repair or remedy within a reasonable time as our primary remedy.
We are not responsible for defects arising from: fair wear and tear; misuse; lack of maintenance; movement or defects in the building structure; work by others; or your supplied materials — except to the extent required by law.
11. Cancellation and cooling-off
11.1 Website use
You may stop using the website at any time.
11.2 Consumer contracts made at a distance or off-premises
If you are a consumer and a cooling-off right applies to your contract under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, we will provide the required information in our pre-contract communications. Where you request that works begin during a cooling-off period, you may be charged for services supplied up to the point of cancellation, as permitted by law.
11.3 Deposits and cancellation by you
If you cancel after we have ordered bespoke materials, fabricated items, or incurred costs preparing for your works, we may retain a reasonable amount from any deposit (or invoice you) to cover those costs and our reasonable losses, without limiting other rights. Bespoke joinery is often made to measure and may have limited resale value.
11.4 Cancellation by us
We may cancel or suspend works if you fail to pay, fail to provide access or required information, or if continuing would be unsafe or unlawful. We will notify you and explain any refund of unearned sums where applicable.
12. Online tools and calculators
Cost calculators, estimators, configurators, and similar tools are provided for guidance only. Outputs depend on the assumptions and inputs you enter and do not replace a survey, specification, or formal quotation. We are not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of calculator outputs.
13. Intellectual property
- Website content (text, images, logos, graphics, layout, and code) is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.
- You may view and print pages for personal, non-commercial use related to considering or using our services. You may not copy, scrape, republish, or commercially exploit site content without our prior written consent.
- Designs, drawings, cutting lists, and specifications we produce for your project remain our intellectual property until we agree otherwise; you receive a licence to use them for the commissioned works at your property.
- You must not remove branding or copyright notices from our materials.
14. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malware, or overload our systems
- Submit false, offensive, or unlawful content via forms or uploads
- Harvest contact details or use the site for spam or unsolicited marketing
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your authority to commission works
- Use automated means to scrape the site without our permission
We may block access or report abuse where appropriate.
15. Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law (including certain consumer statutory rights).
Subject to the above:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity
- For website use, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the website is limited to £100
- For contracted works, our liability is limited to the total price paid (or payable) for the specific works giving rise to the claim, except where the law requires otherwise
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by you, other trades, or events beyond our reasonable control
16. Insurance
We maintain public liability insurance appropriate to our trade. Details can be provided on request. You should maintain adequate buildings and contents insurance for your property. Please tell your insurer if major works are planned, where required by your policy.
17. Privacy and cookies
Our use of personal data, cookies, analytics (including Google Analytics 4), tag managers, advertising pixels (including Meta Pixel), and similar technologies is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the website you acknowledge that policy. Where consent is required for non-essential tracking, we will request it through our consent tools.
18. Events beyond our control
We are not liable for failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, epidemics, strikes, supply-chain failure, utility outages, accident, fire, flood, or government action. We will resume performance as soon as reasonably practicable and discuss revised arrangements with you.
19. General
- If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
- These Terms are between you and us; no third party has rights to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, except as required by law.
- We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. For ongoing website use, the version published on this page applies. For active works contracts, changes apply only if agreed or as required by law.
- Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
- These Terms and any dispute arising from them or from our services are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without limiting mandatory consumer protections that may allow you to bring claims in your local UK court.
